
Lou Bender '32 Elected to New York Basketball Hall of Fame

NEW YORK ? Former Lion basketball standout Lou Bender '32 will be inducted into the New York Basketball Hall of Fame in September, it was announced recently.
Bender, along with Columbia Athletics Hall of Famer George Gregory, helped lead the Columbia teams of the early 1930s to consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate League titles.
A three-time All-Metropolitan selection and a two-time All-American, Bender will be inducted into the legendary Hall of Fame along with more recent stars, including Kenny Anderson, Rod Strickland, Sam Perkins and former Virginia and Providence coach Pete Gillen.
The Hall of Fame dinner will take place on September 17 at the New York Athletic Club.
