NEW YORK - Columbia lacrosse junior Taylor Gattinella was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the Ivy League office Monday. Gattinella had a huge game against Iona, helping lead the Lions to their first win of the season.
The co-captain scored four goals and assisted on another against the Gaels, in addition to picking up three ground balls and five draw controls. With Columbia trailing 5-4 at the half, Gatinella netted three of her goals in the second half, helping the Lions pull away for a 12-8 victory.
Against Cornell the next day, she continued to pace the team offensively, with three goals, a ground ball and one draw control.
Gattinella is second on the team with nine goals so far this season. Columbia, who is 1-3 after going 1-1 last weekend, will gear up to host George Mason, in a non-league matchup slated for 1 p.m., Thursday, March 17.
