Cecelia Messner selected to wear #13 in honor of Kathleen Roskot
KATHLEEN ROSKOT ALUMNAE GAME
Last year, in memory of Kathleen Roskot, the Columbia lacrosse program renamed its annual alumnae game to the "Kathleen Roskot Alumnae Game," featuring a yearly tribute to the Columbia lacrosse star who tragically lost her life 25 years ago.
Tomorrow, one Columbia lacrosse player will don Roskot's jersey #13 to celebrate Kathleen's vigorous spirit. That player, officially, will be Cecelia Messner.
Messner was chosen by her teammates, being recognized for her competitive drive, positive attitude, and relentless commitment to the development of herself and her teammates, all of which were just some of the great qualities that Kathleen brought to the Lions.
Messner will also be the recipient of the team's newly named "Kathleen Roskot Alumnae Award."
Roskot's family has established the Kathleen Roskot Scholarship Fund in her name. This fund has established scholarships at Columbia, Bay Shore High School, and for a Suffolk County player going on to play lacrosse at a Division I program. It is her family's goal to help more students achieve their dreams of achievement and success.

This initiative is also tied to lacrosse's annual One Love game. Founded in honor of UVA student-athlete Yeardley Love, One Love is a national non-profit that empowers young people with tools and resources to see the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships and bring life-saving prevention education to their communities.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lions closed out their road trip with a 15-8 loss to the Quakers last Saturday in Philadelphia.
Columbia and Penn were locked in a tightly contested first half, with the Lions answering each early push from the Quakers. After falling behind 2-0, Columbia responded with goals from Lilah Kirch and Maddie Brogan to cut the deficit to one at the end of the first quarter. The Lions carried that momentum into the second, as Cordelia Flemming and Anna Becker scored to even the game at 4-4.
The Quakers created separation in the second half, opening the third quarter with four unanswered goals to extend the lead to 9-4. Penn continued to build on that momentum in the fourth, scoring five of the first six goals of the period to push the advantage to double digits.
Becker and Brogan led the Lions offensively, both tallying hat tricks. Brogan now leads the Ivy League with 32 goals, and Cecelia Messner leads the league with 50 points.
In goal, Ava Kimche matched her career-high with 15 saves while facing a high-volume Penn attack.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears enter Saturday's contest sporting a 5-5 record in 2026, and 1-2 mark in Ivy League action. Brown's Ivy win came over a nationally ranked Cornell team at the time, 10-6. The Bears also came up just short against No. 5 Yale, 10-8.
Last season, Brown finished 10-7 overall with a 4-3 record in conference play. The Bears would qualify for the Ivy League Tournament, and lost a battle with No. 1 Princeton, 17-16. In last year's matchup with the Lions, Brown won 19-5 at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
Ruby Silwkowski leads the team with 24 goals and 41 points. Goldie Aronson has been a force on the defensive end, forcing 13 turnovers and collecting 12 ground balls. Goalkeeper Mackenzie Conway has collected 81 saves on the season and is 5-5.
