Baseball Begins Spring Break Trip at Pepperdine This Weekend

THE STORYLINES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
The Lions picked up a four-game split at Jacksonville last weekend, earning a pair of comeback, extra-inning victories.
PEPERDINE'S STATUS
The Waves snapped a six-game slide with a 12-4 victory over Cal Poly on Tuesday.
Manny Jefferson is off to a solid-start, hitting .293 with three homers and 10 RBI to lead Pepperdine's offense.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia is 0-5 against Peperdine with the previous meeting coming in the March 2012.
COLUMBIA VS. THE WEST COAST CONFERENCE
The Lions are 1-14 all-time against teams currently in the WCC. Columbia's only victory came at San Diego on Mar. 16, 2012, a 6-2 win over the No. 20 Toreros. The Lions will make the trip down the coast to face San Diego for a two-game set on Mar. 15-16.
JOHNNY ON THE SPOT
Senior John Kinne drove in the game-winning runs in both of Columbia's victories at Jacksonville last weekend. He went 4-for-5 with four RBI in game two, including a single in the 10th inning to cap a seven-run comeback. The next day, Kinne dropped a single down the leftfield line in the 11th to play the role of hero once again. For his efforts, Kinne was named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on March 8.
UNLEASH THE SAVAGE
Junior Will Savage had a monster weekend from the leadoff spot, hiting .529 and posting an on-base percentage of .688, which puts him first in the nation. in four games in Jacksonville last weekend.
HOW DO YOU SPELL RELIEF?
Columbia's bullpen threw 14.2 innings at Jacksonville without surrendering an earned run on eight hits. The Lions used six different relievers.
DIRTY HARRY
Sophomore Harrisen Egly moved into a three-way tie for second place on Columbia's career save list after recording the final three outs at Jacksonville on Mar. 6. Egly now has six for in his one-plus season and is one behind teammate Adam Cline for the most all-time.
