This group has helped lift Columbia to back-to-back Ivy League titles, three conference tournament appearances and a ticket to the 2025 NCAA Regionals.
A ceremony will be held prior to the first pitch of Sunday's doubleheader to recognize their contribution to the program.
Last Time Out
The Lions are entering the weekend as winners of 3 of 4 after topping Stony Brook, 8-4 on Wednesday. Columbia totaled 12 hits and a season-high nine doubles, highlighted by a grand slam from Anthony Temesvary and a homer from Hunter Snyder.
Cole Fellows finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Jack Kail and Tate Vogler each contributed two hits and two runs.
On the mound, the Columbia bullpen strung a dominant effort, limiting the Seawolves to just two hits in eight innings. Brendan Murphy tossed 2.2 scoreless and hitless frames. Jack Korthas followed and worked through two innings, allowing just one run before Evan Kleinhans delivered a clean inning. Martin Zhang (1-0) earned the win with a scoreless frame.
Series History
Columbia is 83-107 all-time against Yale. In a three-game set in 2025 in New Haven, the Lions dropped the first two games, 7-3 and 3-0, before taking the finale with a 6–3 victory.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Yale (23-11, 11-4 Ivy) enters the weekend as one of the league's top contenders, having won three of its four conference series. The Bulldogs recorded sweeps over Penn and Princeton and took two of three from both Cornell and Harvard.
Yale carries momentum into the series on a three-game winning streak, most recently a 14-5 midweek win over Sacred Heart. Sophomore Jack Dauer powered the offense with two home runs, while junior Kaiden Dossa added two hits, including a homer of his own.
Offensively, Yale is leading the Ivy League in batting (.279) and on-base percentage (.403). The Bulldogs are led by Garrett Larsen, who bats .388, 1.001 OPS, and a team-high .494 on-base percentage. Chris Diprima (.352) and Kaiden Dossa (.315, .945 OPS) are threats in the batting box. Dossa added four home runs and a perfect 18-for-18 mark in stolen bases.
On the mound, Tate Evans has been dominant, posting a 2.34 ERA with a 0.94 WHIP across 57.2 innings while striking out 63. Ben Winslow recorded a 2.88 ERA and an impressive 0.87 WHIP, with 48 strikeouts in 34.1 innings.
The Bulldogs' depth extends throughout the staff. Jack Ohman has been a strikeout presence with 62 punchouts, while Teo Spadaccini (4.18 ERA) and Nick West (4.76 ERA) have provided stability in both starting and relief roles.
On the Offensive
Columbia has proven to be one of the offensive powerhouses in the Ivy League, sitting second with a .272 team batting average and leading the conference in home runs (27), hits (321), doubles (65), and slugging percentage (.404)
Toughest One Wins
Jack Kail has been one of the toughest hitters to retire this season, striking out just six times in 125 at-bats, ranking as the hardest player to strike out in the league and No. 3 nationally. He has totaled 45 hits and driven in 31 runs.
Kail knocked his 121st RBI in the matchup against Brown last weekend and is officially in the top five most career RBI in program history.
Something's Brewing
Jackson Brewer made his first series back against Brown a memorable one, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, including a home run.
The sophomore has been a steady presence in the lineup, batting .245 with a .459 slugging percentage, highlighted by five home runs and 23 RBI.
For He's a Jolly Good Fellows
Senior Cole Fellows returns after earning the 2025 Blair Bat, awarded to the Ivy League player with the highest batting average in conference play, and has carried that momentum into 2026, hitting .281 on the season.
Fellows has a .508 slugging percentage and 28 RBI so far this season.
Off the field, Fellows was named a captain of the 2025 Lou Gehrig Community Impact Team in recognition of his leadership and commitment beyond the game.
Up Next
Columbia will return to Ivy League play on the road next weekend with a three-game series at Cornell in Ithaca, New York.
The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2, with first pitch scheduled for 11:30 a.m., followed by game two at 3:00 p.m. The series will conclude on Sunday, May 3, with a 12:00 p.m. first pitch. All three games can be seen on ESPN+.
