HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth rallied from two down in the ninth to come away with a 7-6 win in game two of a doubleheader, giving them a series sweep of the Columbia baseball team. The Lions lost game one, 3-1.
After a rapid fire first three innings, the Lions struck first in the fourth inning. Kyle Bartelman tripled and scored on a two-out, pinch-hit single to right-center. However, Dartmouth answered in their next turn.
Mitch Ketchmark caught a break, hitting a ball off the glove of Simpson, and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Nick Ruppert came through with a two-out double off the wall in right to make it 1-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, a single by Justin Fowler started the rally. He moved to third after a sacrifice and wild pitch. Matt Feinstein singled up the middle to plate the go-ahead run and after an error prolonged the inning, Roulis tacked on an insurance run.
Dartmouth retired the next six batters in order to complete the win.
Josh Simpson (1-2) went the distance, allowing two earned runs on seven hits to go with seven strikeouts.

It was a textbook start to the second contest for Columbia. Savage drew a walk to start, moved to second on a ground out to the right side and came around to score on a Robb Paller single up the middle. After a delayed steal, Randell Kanemaru snuck a double inside the bag at first to make it 2-0.
Dartmouth answered the bell in the bottom of the first on a two-run blast from Ketchmark, but the Lions regained the lead in the third.
With Kanemaru on first, Kyle Bartelman registered his Ivy League leading fourth triple of the season to plate the go-ahead run. Bartelman later scored on a sacrifice fly from John Kinne to restore the two-run cushion.
Fowler pulled the Big Green within 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth and Dartmouth looked to get even closer or take the lead. However, with two away and the bases full, Nick Maguire fielded a sharp grounder behind the bag for the third out.
Logan Boyher launched a towering solo homer to leftfield in the top of the sixth before the teams traded runs in the seventh. Lane Robinette drove in Maguire with a triple in the top of the frame and Ketchmark doubled to bring in Holbrook to make it 6-4.
After coasting through the first six batters he faced, George Thanopoulos gave up back-to-back hits in the ninth. Thanopoulos gave way to Harrisen Egly, who issued back-to-back walks to tie the score. Egly got a strikeout for the second out, but Fowler lofted a hit over the head of Savage in centerfield to give his team the win.
The Lions will open up Gehrig Divisional play next weekend for four games at Cornell. The first day of two doubleheaders will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
