GoColumbiaLions.com asked each of our five senior men's basketball players their thoughts as they prepare for their final two home collegiate games this weekend at Levien Gymnasium. The Lions host Princeton on Friday (7 p.m.) and then Penn on Saturday (7 p.m.) for Senior Day. The third of five guest columnists is Jeff Coby, a 6-foot-8 senior forward from Pembroke Pines, Fla.
JEFF COBY, Senior Forward
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
Princeton and Penn are both good teams. They're both really good teams and they'll both be good games. We're super excited, we have great fans and we're looking forward to playing in front of them at Levien Gymnasium this weekend. It should be two great games.
What would you want someone to think of your legacy?
Always providing energy, getting wins, playing hard, and having fun on the team with your brothers.
What are you favorite on-court memories?
Either the Penn and Princeton back-to-back games in 2014 and/or winning the CIT Championship last year.
What are your thoughts on competing for a berth in the new Ivy League Tournament?
It's special. It gives everyone an opportunity to compete for the top four spots in the tournament at The Palestra.
What have you learned about the team late in the season?
We learned that we can play with anybody, we're a very competitive team. The ball hasn't been bouncing our way lately, but it forces us to come together a little bit more and have more camaraderie. We're still learning about our team and we're excited for the upcoming weekend.
What one word of advice you wish someone would've told you before you came to Columbia?
Take care of your body. Those back-to-backs are excruciating. If you eat right, sleep right, everything will work out, you'll be okay.
What one lesson have you learned on the court?
Don't get too emotional. It's a very emotional game. You have to keep your faith, stay strong and play through adversity and keep fighting.
