Four Women's Tennis Players to Compete at Weekend Wildcat Invite

Senior Sarah Hu, sophomore Jennifer Kerr, first-year Melissa Sakar and first-year Yekaterina Alferova will travel to Evanston, Ill.
EVANSTON, Ill.—Four members of the Columbia women's tennis team—senior Sarah Hu, sophomore Jennifer Kerr, first-year Melissa Sakar and first-year Yekaterina Alferova—will compete this weekend at the Wildcat Invitational held at Northwestern University's Vandy Christie Center.
In singles, Hu will play in the B bracket, Kerr will compete in the C bracket, Sakar is in the G bracket and Alferova is in the H bracket. In doubles, Sakar and Kerr will play in Doubles A featuring a championship bracket format and Hu and Alferova will be in the Doubles C round-robin bracket. Sakar is coming off an ITA All-American singles appearance.

Individuals and doubles teams will represent 13 programs from around the nation. Teams competing include host Northwestern, DePaul, Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State, UIC, Chicago State, Columbia, Princeton, Utah, Lewis, Illinois and Kentucky.
Play will begin at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and will continue into the evening all three days. Up-to-date results will be available on www.gocolumbialions.com throughout the weekend.
