Hu Claims Singles Title, Lions Win All Four Doubles Matches at Wildcat Invite

Hu wins the Flight B singles bracket with three straight wins, Melissa Sakar finishes as finalist in Singles G bracket, Lions claim all four doubles matches at Wildcat Invitational at Northwestern.
EVANSTON, Ill. --Senior Sarah Hu captured the Flight B singles title and Columbia's two competing doubles teams swept all four of their matches at this weekend's Wildcat Invitational held at Northwestern University's Vandy Christie Center.
Hu claimed the Flight B Singles Bracket with three straight wins. Sakar was a finalist in her Singles G Bracket after winning her first two matches on Friday and Saturday respectively. She dropped a 7-5, 6-3 decision to Michigan's Anca Cracium in the final.
Kerr and Melissa Sakar won two Doubles A matches on Friday and Saturday and first-year Yekaterina Alferova and Hu won both of their doubles matches. Columbia's entire weekend results are listed below. Several of the matches' scores have not been posted.
Individuals and doubles teams represented 13 programs from around the nation. Teams competing included host Northwestern, DePaul, Pitt, Michigan, Michigan State, UIC, Chicago State, Columbia, Princeton, Utah, Lewis, Illinois and Kentucky.
Next up, Columbia will compete at the ITA Northeast Regionals from October 11-16 at Yale.
