Wrestling Braces For Black Knight Invite, NY State Championships

A pair of tournaments headline the schedule this weekend for Columbia.
NEW YORK – The Columbia wrestling team will be sending athletes to the Black Knight Invite and the New York State Tournament this Sunday. Action from the N.Y. States at Cornell University gets under way at 9 a.m. from Ithaca, while the Black Knight Invite begins at 10 a.m. in West Point.
Trackwrestling will provide live video and live stats of the Black Knight Invite from Christl Arena, as well as live coverage for the N.Y. State Championships at Barton Hall.
The Lions will be looking to build upon a strong start to the season behind the nine top-eight performances that were posted at the Princeton Open on November 4. During the opening event of the season, first-year Matt Kazimir impressed with a third place finish in the 133 pound weight class. The rookie finished his first collegiate tournament in dominating fashion, with three wins coming via fall, and a fourth from a tech fall. Fellow rookie Danny Fongaro finished fourth at 141 and senior Dan Reed took fifth at 157.
