Cross Country Heads To Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invite And Princeton Invite

The No. 24 Columbia women and the Columbia men will split up with one half heading to the Nuttycombe Invite on Oct. 18 and the other half heading to the Princeton Invite on Oct. 19.
NEW YORK – With the Ivy League Cross Country Heps less than one month away, the No. 24 Columbia Cross Country women and the Columbia men spilt the difference as they head to the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday, Oct. 18 in Madison, Wisconsin and the Princeton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Princeton, New Jersey, for a pair of races over the final weekend of competition before the Heps.
The Championship Races at the Nuttycombe, which for the women will be a 6K and for the men an 8K, get started at 12:20 p.m. CT with the women's 6K going before the men's 8K. As for the races at Princeton, with the men running an 8K and the women taking part in a 6K, they are scheduled to get going at 10 a.m.

The previous race for the Lions, was a successful one for the No. 24 Lion women, as Sofia Camacho took first place (18:19.1) in the 5K at the Metropolitan Cross Country Championships to help Columbia finish third overall in the race. As for the men, they did not race at the Mets, but last competed at the Paul Short Run (Oct. 5), where junior Aaron Breene finished with a time of 25:26.5.
Columbia will face some tough competition at the Nuttycombe, one of the premier races each season, as the No. 24 Lion women will be joined by No. 1 Arkansas; No. 4 Stanford and New Mexico; No. 6 Utah; No. 9 NC State; No. 10 Michigan State; No. 11 Boise State; hosting No. 13 Wisconsin; No. 14 Oregon; No. 15 Syracuse; No. 16 Notre Dame; No. 18 Minnesota and Furman; No. 21 Air Force; No. 22 Ohio State; No. 25 Oregon State; No. 27 NAU; No. 28 Georgetown and No. 29 Iowa State as one of 20 programs that bring a national ranking into the weekend's race. The Lion women will also be joined by Harvard to give the Ivy League a pair of programs at the meet.
As for the men, they are led by senior Kenny Vasbinder, who in his last two races has finished second (Iona Meet of Champions, Sept. 20) and first (Roy Griak Invitational, Sept. 28) and he will look to continue his trend of top finishes. Vasbinder will be a part of a talented field, with numerous ranked programs making the trip, as No. 1 NAU; No. 5 Stanford; No. 6 Iowa State; No. 7 Oregon; No. 8 Portland; No. 10 NC State; No. 12 Syracuse; No. 13 Notre Dame; No. 15 Indiana; No. 16 Virginia; No. 18 Michigan; No. 19 Wisconsin; No. 20 UCLA; No. 22 Utah State; No. 23 Princeton; No. 25 Eastern Kentucky; No. 26 Boise State; No. 28 Tulsa and No. 30 Wyoming make up 13 nationally ranked programs taking part in the meet. Along with the Lions, both Princeton and Harvard will be competing as well, giving the Ivy League three programs on the men's side competing.
