Hays And Wasserman Pace No. 24 Lion Women At The NuttyCombe Invite

Senior Kenny Vasbinder finished 32nd overall as the Columbia men finished 32nd overall and the Lion women finished 17th overall.
MADISON, Wis. – Taking part in what was an extremely competitive field, the No. 24 Columbia Cross Country women were paced by senior Katie Wasserman and junior Allie Hays on their way to a 17th overall team finish in the 6K, while the men finished 32nd in the 8K at the NuttyCombe Invitational, which was hosted by Wisconsin and run, Friday afternoon, on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
HOW THE WOMEN FINISHED: Wasserman and Hays gave the Lions their best two finishes on the day, finishing 21st and 27th respectively to hand Columbia a pair of top 30 finishes. Wasserman crossed the line with a 6K personal best time of 20:23.7, while Hays collected a PR time of 20:29.9 giving the top two Lions their best day in terms of time in their collegiate careers.
Columbia's next best finish was 93rd, with senior Emily Acker crossing with a time of 21:15.9, in what was her second 6K race of the season. Rounding out Columbia's finishers of record, was senior Bianca Alonzo, who finished 143rd with a time of 21:35.5 and sophomore Emily Virtue, who crossed the line in 22:02.1 to finish 196th overall.
HOW THE MEN FINISHED: Senior Kenny Vasbinder, who entered the weekend with a pair of top finishes under his belt, finished with a PR time of 24:06.1 on his way to a 32nd-place finish overall to give Columbia its best finish of the race. First-year Tyler Berg, running a time of 24:37.7 to finish 103rd overall in the race, was the next best finisher for Columbia, followed by sophomore David Vorbach (25:27.3), who finished 180th, junior Dominic Dyer (25:31.5), who crossed in 194th and sophomore Pat Bayeux's (26:05.1), 211th-place finish rounding out the Lion's finishers who recorded a score for the team.
