
Columbia Hits the Road for the Final Time in 2019

The Lions will head to the Granite State to take on Dartmouth and New Hampshire this weekend.

NEWS/NOTES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions split a pair of matches last weekend, coming up with a thrilling, 6-5, overtime victory over Penn. Columbia overcame a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter and used Ellie Decker's first career goal to pick up the win.
• On Sunday, the Lions fell to No. 25 Monmouth in shootout by a final of 2-1. The Hawks won the skills competition by a 2-0 margin.
• Columbia has won both its games on the season decided in overtime, and lost both games that went to shootouts.
• The Lions had two players who finished with multiple goals against Penn, Jaimie McCormick and Allison Smith. Smith and Kelsey Farkas are now tied for the team lead in goals with seven, good for fifth in the Ivy League.
• Brooke Gasser ranks No. 17 in the country, averaging 0.62 assists per game.
DARTMOUTH'S STATUS
• The Big Green have struggled this season, winning only three of their 13 games.
• Two of those wins came in overtime to Holy Cross and UMass Lowell.
• The Big Green have lost five in a row by an average of three goals per contest.
• In net, Isabella Santucci has started all 11 games with a 3.48 GAA and .704 save percentage. She leads the Ivy with 112 saves on the year and 8.62 saves per game.
NEW HAMPSHIRE'S STATUS
• Coming into the weekend, the Wildcats are on a three-game losing streak.
• New Hampshire has two wins vs ranked opponents this season, topping No. 21 Albany, 4-3, in double overtime and a 3-2 against No. 18 Stanford.
• The Wildcats have been streaky this year, with two separate losing streaks of three games in addition to a five game winning streak earlier in the season.
• Forward Ava Mariani has been named Rookie of the Week in the American East conference twice in the past four weeks.
INSIDE THE SERIES - DARTMOUTH
The Lions field an 7-15 record all-time against Dartmouth. Columbia has lost its last two against the Big Green, both by one score. Last season, the Big Green went up 2-0 and held off a late rally by the Lions. Jennifer Trieschman scored in the 64th minute and Dartmouth was forced to stop a penalty stroke with under two minutes left to preserve the win.
INSIDE THE SERIES - NEW HAMPSHIRE
This is the first meeting between these two teams.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Over half of Columbia's first 13 opponents have been ranked at some point this season in the NFHCA Top-25 Poll. The Lions took are 2-6 in those contests, their losses coming to No. 8 Iowa, 3-1, No. 23 Fairfield, 1-0, No. 24 Cornell 1-0 in shootouts, No. 21 Albany 3-1, No. 7 Princeton 8-1, and most recently 2-1 to No. 23 Monmouth 2-1 in a shootout. Their wins were agains No. 22 Boston University and No. 24 Maine. Looking ahead, Columbia has one more crack at a team currently in the top-25 when they face Harvard (Nov. 8).
