Columbia to Face Yale Saturday at Home

The Columbia women's soccer team returns to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium after two matches on the road to face Yale at 5 p.m.
NEW YORK — After two matches on the road, the Columbia women's soccer team returns to the friendly confines of Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening to face the Yale Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET.

Riding a four-match unbeaten streak, the Lions enter Saturday's matchup with an 8-3-3 overall record including a 2-1-2 mark in Ivy League contests. Columbia looks to get back in the win column after finishing with 1-1 draws in the past two games. Against Dartmouth last weekend, senior forward Emily Koe scored in the 14th minute to give the Lions the early lead.
Sophomore midfielder Jessica Schildkraut paces the Lions with 10 points behind two goals and six assists, while junior midfielder Cayla Davis, first-year forward Shira Cohen and sophomore forward Mallaika Tomar are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece. First-year goalkeeper Liz Matei has started all 14 contests for the Lions, making 48 saves with a .97 goals against average and .787 save percentage.
SCOUTING YALE
The Bulldogs visit New York on a four-match win streak, sitting at 11-3 overall with a 4-1 mark in Ivy play. Yale's lone loss in the league came against Harvard on Oct. 5. Last weekend's action saw the Bulldogs earn a 1-0 victory at Penn as sophomore Emily Yin scored the game-winner in the 73rd minute.
First-year Ellery Winkler leads the Bulldogs in their scoring efforts with 18 points behind six goals and six assists, while senior forward Aerial Chavarin has a team-high seven goals on the year. Senior keeper Alyssa Flagel has played nearly every minute in goal for the Bulldogs, owning a .71 goals against average and .804 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Although the Lions trail 8-19-6 in the all-time series with the Bulldogs, Columbia has seen more recent success with a 5-3-3 advantage in games played the last decade. Last season, Columbia came up with a 2-0 victory in New Haven using scores from then-rookie Schildkraut and since-graduated senior Amaris Hemmings.

The Lions will play their final regular season contest next Saturday, Nov. 9, hosting Harvard at 5 p.m. The contest will serve as Senior Day for Columbia's eight seniors.
