Columbia Volleyball senior Chichi Ikwuazom once again was named the best in the league, winning her fifth Ivy League POTW award of the season.
PRINCETON, N.J. – For the fifth time this season, senior Chichi Ikwuazom has been named Ivy League Player of the Week, as announced by the Ivy League today, Monday, Nov. 4, following her record-setting weekend that saw her record her 418th kill of the season to set a new program single-season kill record while helping Columbia Volleyball split the weekend at home.
This is Ikwuazom's first Ivy League POTW since Oct. 4, and besides setting the record, Ikwuazom's weekend was impressive to say the least, finishing with 48 total kills, a .506 hitting percentage and averaging 6.00 kills per set. Ikwuazom also racked up 12 total blocks in a weekend that saw the Lions take down Penn in four sets, before falling in a highly contested match to Princeton in four sets at Levien Gym.
Ikwuazom's weekend began with 27 kills against Penn, a match that saw her hit a career-high .743 in what was the fifth match this season that Ikwuazom has racked up at least 27 kills. Against Princeton, in what was a record setting night for the Lion senior, Ikwuazom collected 21 kills, while hitting .310 against the Ivy League leaders and her final kill of the night would be a record setter in a tough match that the Lions lost, despite giving Princeton a real battle.
