Columbia Set for Senior Night Friday Against No. 15 Harvard

The Lions will close out the 2019 season with their ninth game against a ranked opponent.
NEWS/NOTES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions suffered their first loss in a game decided in overtime last weekend against Yale by a final of 4-3.
• Columbia responded quickly after giving up their first goal, scoring 21 seconds after the Bulldogs found the back of the net. It was a back-and-forth affair after that, but Yale notched the game-winner in the second minute of overtime.
• Allison Smith recorded her eighth goal on the season off a corner, giving her the team lead and tying her for seventh in the Ivy League.
• Five of the Lions losses have come in one score games.
• Brooke Gasser ranks No. 23 in the country, averaging 0.53 assists per game.
• In net, Alexa Conomikes ranks ninth in the nation in saves per game with 6.33.
HARVARD'S STATUS
• The Crimson have played well to close out their regular season, winning five of their last six coming into this match.
• Their last game against Dartmouth they won 7-1, their third game of the season decided by five or more goals.
• Harvard's only four losses on the year have come against top-20 teams, with three of them being one score games.
• The Crimson have outscored their opponents 53-20 on the season.
• Harvard ranks fourth in the nation in scoring average at 3.21 and fifth in scoring margin at 2.06.
• In net, Ellie Shahbo has started 15-of-16 games with a 1.12 GAA and .758 save percentage, which are good for first and second in the Ivy League, respectively. She also has two shutouts on the year.
INSIDE THE SERIES - HARVARD
The Lions field an 6-16 record all-time against Harvard. The Crimson are currently on a six game winning streak against Columbia dating back to 2013. Three of those wins came in shutouts (6-0 in 2018, 4-0 in 2017, and 5-0 in 2015).
HONORING THE SENIORS
Prior to Friday night's contest, Columbia will honor seniors Maaike Blindenbach, Kelly McCarthy, Jennifer Trieschman and Emma Wiklund for their achievements over the past four years.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Nine of Columbia's 16 opponents on the year have been ranked at some point during the season. The Lions are currently 2-6 in those contests, their losses coming to No. 8 Iowa, 3-1, No. 23 Fairfield, 1-0, No. 24 Cornell 1-0 in shootouts, No. 21 Albany 3-1, No. 7 Princeton 8-1, and most recently 2-1 to No. 23 Monmouth 2-1 in a shootout. Their wins were agains No. 22 Boston University and No. 24 Maine. Their last matchup against a Top 25 team comes this weekend against No. 17 Harvard.
