
Wrestling to Host Hofstra, Sacred Heart This Weekend

Lions take on Hofstra on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Noon for Alumni Day; Lions wrestle Sacred Heart on Sunday at 2 p.m.
NEW YORK—Following a rare week off, Columbia Wrestling gets back to action this weekend when it hosts Hofstra on Saturday (Noon) and Sacred Heart on Sunday (2 p.m.). Both EIWA dual matches will be played at University Gymnasium (Blue Gym).

Saturday's Hofstra match has been designated Alumni Day as the Lions will welcome back 30-plus Alumni team members. A ceremony to honor all Alumni members will take place during a 10-minute intermission between matches five and six.
ABOUT THE LIONS
Columbia enters the weekend with a 4-3 overall dual meet record. The Lions have been led by 157-pounder Dan Reed with a 17-4 overall record, 141-pounder Danny Fongaro (12-8), 165-pounder Laurence Kosoy (16-8) and 125-pounder Joe Manchio (12-9). Other Lions who have 10 or more wins include 174-pounder Max Elling (12-12), 149-pounder Riley Jacops (10-8), 133-pound Max Kizimir (10-2) and 125-pounder Mike Kelly (10-3). Hofstra (4-9) is coming back-to-back dual match losses to Rider (24-16) and Bucknell (22-18). Against, Rider, Hofstra led 16-15 before the Broncs won the last three decisions to claim the win. Against Bucknell, the Pride led 12-0 before Bucknell claimed a 22-15 lead en route to the four-point win. Hofstra is led by Ricky Stamm, who is 12-11 at 165/174 pounds this year while Holden Helleris is 10-6 overall and 7-2 in duals at 149 on the year. Garrett Lambert is 11-10 overall and 9-4 in duals at 141 pounds.

Sacred Heart enters the weekend with a 5-3 overall record. The Pioneers host Binghamton on Friday before traveling to New York for Sunday's match at Columbia.
