Lions Take On Brown, Harvard This Weekend on Road

Columbia to wrestle at both Brown (11 a.m.) and Harvard (4 p.m.) on Saturday for final Ivy League dual matches.
PROVIDENCE, R.I./CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Columbia Wrestling hits the road for two Saturday matches when it travels to Brown for an 11 a.m. match in Providence, then takes on Harvard at 4 p.m. in Cambridge. Both EIWA and Ivy League dual matches will be played on Saturday.

ABOUT THE LIONS
Columbia is led by Dan Reed and Laurence Kosoy. Both are ranked among the top wrestlers at their respective weight classes by the EIWA. Reed is ranked No. 4 in the 157-pound class with a 20-5 overall record, while Kosoy is No. 5 in the 165-pound weight class with a 19-9 overall record. Max Elling and Danny Fongaro have won 15 matches apiece at 174 and 141 pounds respectively, Cole Corrigan is on a four-match win streak at 149 pounds, Matt Kazimir is 13-3 at 133 pounds and Joe Manchio has won 14 bouts at 125 pounds.

Brown enters the weekend with a 4-6 dual match record. The Bears are on a four-match dual losing streak. Jon Viruet leads the Bears with a 24-5 overall record at 165 pounds as he is ranked No. 2 in the EIWA. Christian LaFragola is ranked No. 4 in the EIWA 184 pound weight class with a 17-7 record. Also contributing are Trey Keeley, who is 14-12 at 125 pounds and Jack Bokina, who is 13-12 at 149 pounds. Ian Butterbrodt is ranked as EIWA's No. 5 heavyweight.

Harvard enters the weekend with a 1-7 dual match record. The Crimson have dropped four matches in a row. Harvard is led by Hunter Ladnier, who owns a 19-9 record at 157 pounds. Joshua Kim (13-11 at 165), Lukas Stricker (13-13 at 133), Nolan Hellickson (12-12 at 125) all have 10 or more wins at their respective weight classes.

Next weekend, Columbia concludes its regular season with EIWA matches at Bucknell (Noon) and at Bloomsburg (3 p.m.). Both matches will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23. The EIWA Championships are scheduled for Friday, March 8-Saturday, March 9.
