Columbia win 13 of 20 bouts on the day; Cole Corrigan, Max Elling and Matt Kazimir each win two bouts apiece; Lions move to 8-5 on year.

PROVIDENCE, R.I./CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—Columbia Wrestling won 13 of its 20 individual bouts and split its two road dual matches at both Brown and Harvard on Saturday. The Lions dropped a down-to-the-final bout 19-18 match at Brown in the morning and the defeated Harvard 32-3 in the afternoon. The results move Columbia to 8-5 in dual matches on the year.

COLUMBIA 32, HARVARD 3

Columbia dominated Harvard by winning nine of 10 bouts and claimed a 32-3 victory Saturday afternoon at Malkin Athletic Center.

Columbia trailed 3-0 after the first bout but won nine consecutive to register the 29-point victory, its second largest victory margin of the year.

Joe Manchio registered Columbia's only pin of the match with a 6:36 fall vs. Harvard's Nolan Hellickson at 125 pounds. Chris Scorese (12-2) and Cole Corrigan (10-1) both won by major decision and earned four points apiece at 141 and 149 pounds respectively. Corrigan has now won six consecutive bouts.

Winning bouts for Columbia included Laurence Kosoy (165), Max Elling (174), Brian Bonino (184), Sam Wustefeld (197, sudden victory-1) and Matt Kazimir all won by decision.

BROWN 19, COLUMBIA 18

In a close, down-to-the-final bout, Brown claimed decisions at 184 and 197 pounds to help the Bears claim a one-point 19-18 dual win over Columbia Saturday morning at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

With two bouts left, Columbia took an 18-13 lead after the Lions' Max Elling pinned Brown's AJ Pedro at 174 pounds in 2:57. But Brown's CJ LaFragola, who entered the weekend ranked as the EIWA's No. 4 wrestler at 184 pounds, defeated Columbia's Brian Bonino 3-1 in a close sudden victory and Brown's Tucker Ziegler won a 7-3 decision over Columbia's Sam Wustefeld at 197 pounds.

Columbia won four bouts as Matt Kazimir pinned Brown's Charlie Faber in 5:38 at 133 pounds, Cole Corrigan won his fifth straight match with a 6-1 decision over Brown's Jack Bokina at 149 pounds and Dan Reed defeated Brown's Christian LaBrie 3-2 at 157 pounds. Reed ran his individual record to 21-5.

The 165-pound bout featured an anticipated matchup of two of the EIWA's top wrestlers as Columbia's Laurence Kosoy (No. 5) faced off against Brown's Jon Viruet (No. 2). Viruet won 6-1 decision over Kosoy.

Columbia completes its regular season with two road bouts on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Bucknell (noon) and Bloomsburg (3 p.m.).
