NEW YORK – For the second time in his three professional seasons, former Columbia men's basketball standout Maodo Lo '16CC is an easyCredit BBL (German Basketball League) Champion. Lo helped FC Bayern Munich post a perfect 9-0 record in the playoffs and hoist the trophy in his first year with the organization.
Lo, who spent his first two years and won a championship in 2017 with Brose Bamberg, played in 41 contests and made 23 starts. Columbia's all-time leader in 3-point field goals averaged 7.1 points on 49.8 percent shooting from the floor and 2.7 steals, logging 19.5 minutes per game. In the playoffs, Lo shot 42.3 percent from beyond the arc and was key in Bayern Munich's semifinal sweep over Vechta, posting 10.0 PPG in three games.
Throughout the winter and early spring, Jeff Coby '17CC, Nate Hickman '18CC, Lukas Meisner and Luke Petrasek '17CC also suited up in the professional ranks.
Coby returned to the United States after a year playing in Spain. He was picked up by the Austin Spurs for the Intercontinental Cup in Rio de Jeneiro and got into three regular season games in the NBA G League
Hickman found a home with the Westchester Knicks towards the end of the NBA G-League season. During his time in the NBA's developmental league, Hickman appeared in seven games. Hickman was a key contributor in a Knicks win over the Wisconsin Herd, netting five points, four rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes of action.
Meisner, who joined Lo in the BBL prior to this season, played in every single game for Medi Bayreuth. After seeing limited minutes during the start of the year, the 6-7 forwards role grew as the year went on and averaged over 15 minutes per game in the second half of the year.
Petrasek completed his second season with the Greensboro Swarm in 2018-19, registering 6.2 points, on 40.5 percent shooting from beyond the arc, and 4.4 rebounds per game. Petrasek scored in double-figures on 11 occasions and notched a pair of double-doubles.
