Columbia's season gets started against Howard on Sept. 6 and the Lions' home opener against Fordham is set for Sept. 19.
NEW YORK — Columbia Volleyball head coach Allison Keeley announced, Thursday, July 11, the 2019 schedule for the Lions with a matchup against Howard, in Queens, New York, getting the season started on Sept. 6 and a visit to Cornell on Sept. 28 marking the start of the Ivy League season, as the Lions will play a total of six in-state opponents and 10 home matches at Levien Gymnasium, with all home matches being broadcast on ESPN+ throughout a busy season.

The Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic, hosted by St. John's, gets the season started for Columbia with a double-header on the first day to get it all rolling. The matchup against Howard, on Sept. 6, gets the day started and at 5 p.m. the Lions will wrap up the first day of action with a match with the hosting Red Storm in Queens. A Sept. 7 matchup against Canisius finishes off Columbia's time in Queens at the Jack Kaiser.

A doubleheader on Sept. 14, starting with the hosting Owls at 11 a.m., concludes the weekend with the Lions taking on Radford at 4 p.m. to wrap up the tournament.

Columbia, for the second straight season, then begins a five-match Ivy League home stretch that gets started when Cornell comes to town on Oct. 26. Columbia's long home stand continues with Penn on Nov. 1, and Princeton on Nov. 2. The final home weekend of 2019 kicks off with a Nov. 8 visit by Brown for a 7 p.m. match. The home slate of matches for the Lions concludes on Nov. 9, when for the second straight season, Yale comes to Levien to face Columbia on Senior Day.

Last season Columbia finished the season 10-14 (4-10 IVY) as Keeley collected the most wins as a first-year head coach at Columbia since 2009, and this season the Lions return several starters from last year's team. Returners Emily Teehan (Second Team All-Ivy League); Chichi Ikwuazom; Isa Lamus; Rose Compton; Audrey Cheng; Grace Campbell and Kalie Wood all saw significant playing time during the 2018 season and along with the remaining returners and 2019 newcomers, Columbia is set for solid season.
