PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia men's basketball's
Mike Smith earned second team All-Ivy League honors, the conference announced this afternoon. This marks the second all-league selection for the senior, who also picked up second team honors in 2016-17.
Smith averaged 22.8 points per game to lead the Ivy League and currently ranks No. 6 in the NCAA in scoring. He also finished second in assists (4.5) and third in steals (1.5). Smith's 684 total points are the second highest single-season total in program history and his scoring average was the highest for an Ancient Eight player since 1989.
The native of Burr Ridge, Illinois, completed his Columbia career fourth on the Lions' all-time scoring list with 1,653 points, second in assists (393), tied for fourth in steals (124) and third in free-throw percentage (.825).
Smith is one of four Lion point guards to earn All-Ivy League status in nine of the past 10 seasons, joining Brian Barbour '13CC (2011-13), Maodo Lo '16CC (2014-16) and
Gabe Stefanini (2019).
