IVY CHAMPS: At the Indoor Track & Field Heps, three Columbia Lions collected individual titles to highlight a strong performance by Columbia among the Ivy League. The weekend began with junior Jack Pihlkar tossing a school record mark of 19.62m in the weight throw on his final attempt to blow away the rest of the league to take the title.
On the second and final day of Heps, Columbia got a win right off the bat when senior Daniel Igbokwe leaped 15.67m in the triple jump to take first in that event. While in the high jump, first-year Anna Jordahl-Henry surprised the entire league with arguably the best performance by a Lion on the weekend, when in her first attempt at the winning height, cleared 1.79m to set a personal record and take home the Ivy League Heps high jump crown.
WASSERMAN RUNS FOR NATIONALS: While senior Katie Wasserman finished third in the one-mile at the Ivy League Indoor Heps, clocking a time of 4:49.17, she had already set a solid time earlier in the year as at the Camel City Invitational on Feb. 8. While at the Camel City Invite, Wasserman ran an adjusted time of 4:37.55 which at the end of the season gave her the 16th best time in the country which qualified her for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships set to go at Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday, Mar. 13.
