Columbia Cross Country's women posted a 30th overall finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational.
MADISON, Wis. — Among some of the best runners in the country, Columbia Cross Country first-year Phoebe Anderson held her own, leading the Lions at the Nuttycombe Invitational with a top 60 finish as the Lion women finished 30th overall in the race run on Oct. 15, at the Zimmer Championship Course.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In what was only her second career collegiate race, and the first 6K of her young career, Anderson clocked a time of 21:00.7 to finish 58th overall in the race. Anderson's finish was the best finish by an Ivy League runner in the meet and she clocked her finish in a field that had the top three programs in the nation earn their rankings as the top three finishing squads overall.
Rounding out Columbia's positive finishes was Sofia Camacho (138th) and Linnaea Kavulich (170th), both of which made significant moves in the final 2,000 meters of the race. Camacho, who clocked a time of 21:32.5, made up five spots and Kavulich (21:48.2) doubled that with a 10-spot kick to post solid final legs of the race.
