PRINCETON, N.J. — After a season back on the course, and top performances across the country, Columbia Cross Country looks to put it all together at the Ivy League Cross Country Heps hosted by Princeton at West Windsor Fields, as the women's 6K gets going at 11 a.m. and the men's 8K is set for 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.
FAMILIAR WINDSOR: Both the men and the women are quite familiar with Princeton's West Windsor Fields, where for the seventh time since 2011, the Ivy League Heps are begin held. The last time Columbia raced at West Windsor Fields was on Oct. 16, where the men and women both took the course.
At Heps, the last time Columbia ran in Princeton, was in 2018 where the women took home the overall title, with a pair of top two finishers, and the men finished fifth.
WOMEN'S FOUR-PEAT MINDSET: Columbia's women enter the race as the three-time defending Heps champions, having won the title from 2017-19, and a first-place overall finish would give Columbia its fourth straight title. A fourth straight title would be the sixth time a team has four-peated as women's Ivy Champions, and it would be the second time in program history the Lions would go four straight, having completed the feat from 2002-05.
The four peat would also be the first time a women's team has four straight since Princeton's five straight titles from 2006-10.
MEN LOOKING TO BUILD: At the 2019 Ivy League Heps, the men finished fourth, improving on their 2018 finish of fifth. With plenty of returners from that 2019 team, the Lions look to return to the top of the podium for the first time since 2015.
At West Windsor Fields, the Lion men have a bit of successful history, winning the title in 2013 and finishing second in 2011 and 2012.
