Columbia and Yale set for a rare weeknight matchup.
YALE SPECTATOR POLICY
Yale is limiting attendance to fully vaccinated Yale community members (graduate and professional students/faculty/staff) are permitted to attend. All Yale community members must have received their booster shot or show proof that they are not eligible for the booster to date. No outside guests/visitors are permitted to attend.
OPENING TIP-OFF
• Columbia has a rare Tuesday night Ivy League matchup when Columbia and Yale square off in New Haven. The game, originally scheduled for January 2, was rescheduled due to COVID-19 issues within Yale's program.
• Turnovers plagued the Lions in a 93-74 defeat to Brown on Saturday. The Lions continued to shoot the ball well (54.9 percent from the floor), but the Bears scored 34 points off of 22 miscues to secure a road win.
• Columbia saw starting forwards Ike Nweke and Patrick Harding return to the lineup after being sidelined for the Harvard game. Nweke posted 16 points and nine boards, but Harding was limited to two points and four rebounds after dealing with early foul trouble against Brown.
NEWS/NOTES
YALE'S STATUS
The Bulldogs were handed their first conference loss at Penn Saturday, 76-68. The two-time defending champions are led by Azar Swain, who averages 18.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Columbia is 126-113 against Yale in a series that dates back to the 1901-02 season. The Bulldogs swept the Lions in a pair of convincing wins in 2020. Columbia last won in New Haven on March 2, 2019 - an 83-75 victory.
CAM THE MAN
Junior Cameron Shockley-Okeke has stepped up with increased playing time over the past three games. He registered 19 points in back-to-back games against Penn and Harvard and scoring in double-figures in each of the last three. In conference play, Shockley-Okeke has converted on 12-of-13 of his tries from downtown (92.3 percent) to lead the Ivy League.
ON THE OFFENSIVE
Columbia has been the top shooting team in the conference since the start of Ivy League play, converting on 49.6 percent of its attempts from the floor and 48.4 percent from beyond the arc through four games. The Lions' recent hot streak has them up to 31st in the NCAA in 3-point field goal percentage (.375).
