Columbia Concludes 2022 Ivy League Women's Swim & Dive Championships

Lions take sixth at the conclusion of the four-day event.
Cambridge, MA -- Following four days of competition in Cambridge, the Columbia women's swim and dive team took sixth at the 2022 Ivy League Women's Swim and Dive Championships with a total of 706.5. Host-Harvard secured the title with 1,503.5 points followed by Penn with 1,258.
Olivia Jubin opened the final day of racing with a ninth place result in the meet's longest event, the 1,650 free. The junior touched the wall in 16:53.80 four seconds ahead of Princeton's Emily Appleton in tenth.
For the second consecutive night, sophomore Aziza Ganihanova and senior captain Mary Pruden led the Lions. Pruden and Ganihanova took seventh and eighth, respectively, in the A finals of the 200 backstroke. Fractions of a second separated the teammates with Pruden earning the edge in 1:59.13. First-years Riley Pujadas and Hailu produced a similar result in the C final, going to back to back in the fifth and sixth position (2:01.86, 2:02.49).
Emily MacDonald produced Columbia's highest finish in the 100 free, swimming for fifth in the B final (50.54). Junior Isabelle Arevalo recorded with the top finish in the C final (50.56) followed by Callie Breiter in seventh (51.72). Columbia continued to contend in the following event, the 200 breaststroke. At their first Ivy League Championships, sophomore Allegra Walker collected seventh in the B final (2:18.56) and first-year Julia Unas earned fourth from the C final (2:22.51).
Rookies Allison Martin and Anthea Wong led in their respective finals, touching the wall first in the B (2:00.17) and C (2:03.47) finals, respectively.
Columbia wrapped up its 2022 slate in the meet's finale, the 400 free relay. Powered by MacDonald, Ganihanova, Jubin, and Arevalo, the Lions' claimed fifth by dropping over a second from their seed time (3:22.44).
