No. 38 Lions to Play at No. 40 San Diego on Friday

Columbia (10-4) takes on its fifth consecutive nationally ranked opponent in San Diego.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. —The No. 38 ranked Columbia Women's Tennis team will travel to Southern California to face No. 40 ranked San Diego on Friday at 10 a.m. PT.
In the latest ITATennis national rankings, Columbia remained at No. 38. Columbia, No. 58 Princeton, No. 73 Penn, and No. 75 Harvard are the four Ivy League teams currently listed in the national rankings. The Lions enter the weekend with a 10-4 overall record. In San Diego, the Lions will play their fifth consecutive nationally ranked opponent.
Columbia has six players with 10 or more wins including Anna Zhang (12), Jennifer Kerr (11), Michelle Xu (10), Clarine Lerby (10), Melissa Sakar (10) and Akanksha Bhan (10). Bhan is rated the No. 121 singles player nationally in the March 9 ITA rankings. In doubles, the Lions have won each of their last three doubles points.
San Diego enters its match with an 8-3 overall record and a No. 40 team ranking. The host Toreros are on a three-match win streak after defeating Saint Mary's 6-1, No. 57 Princeton 5-2 and San Diego State 5-2. Solymar Colling is the No. 78 singles player and Abigail Desiatnikov is the No. 125 player in the March 9 individual national rankings.
Following the San Diego match, Columbia opens Ivy League play on Saturday, March 26 vs. Cornell.
