Apollaro represents Columbia on Academic All-Ivy Team
PRINCETON, N.J. — The Ivy League released its softball postseason honors and awards on Thursday, with six Columbia Lions earning Honorable Mention All-Ivy League accolades. Columbia was represented by senior first baseman Abby Stuart, first year second baseman Cami Neal, junior third baseman Bubba Gleaves, fifth year shortstop Maria Pagane, sophomore outfielder Jaden Hill, as well as first year pitcher Jordan Hill.
The All-Ivy teams are selected by the league's eight head coaches. The top vote-getters at each position earn first-team accolades, followed by the second-highest vote-getters making the second team. Anyone who receives a first or second team vote earns honorable mention status.
Columbia's six honorable mentions are the most its ever had in one season. Four of the six will return in 2023.
Additionally, senior outfielder Lauren Apollaro was named to the Academic All-Ivy League Team. Each of the eight institutions are represented by one student-athlete apiece. Each Academic All-Ivy League Team member must be in good academic standing at their respective institution and be a key starter or reserve on the roster. Apollaro majors in sustainable development and plans to go into environmental policy development and climate resilience research.
Each of the six Lions who earned an honorable mention nod had significant contributions during Columbia's season. Stuart ranked top-five in batting average, OPS, hits, home runs, total bases, slugging, and on-base percentage. The remainder of Columbia's starting infield — Neal, Pagane, Gleaves — each played in 30 or more games. Gleaves and Pagane combined to score 37 runs. Meanwhile, Jaden Hill hit four home runs and drove in 19 in her first season. Jordan Hill led the pitching staff with a 3.18 ERA, six wins, eight complete games, 63 strikeouts and two shutouts.
