Lacrosse Assistant Coaches Advance to Women's World Championship Quarterfinals

Larson leads tournament in assists.
TOWSON, Md. — Representing the Czech Republic, Columbia women's lacrosse assistant coaches Tierney Larson and Shannon Nee will face Team Canada in the quarterfinal round of the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's Championship. First draw is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. EST at Johnny Unitas Stadium on the campus of Towson University.

A familiar face on the international lacrosse circuit, Larson assisted the Senior National Team in 2017 while heading the U19 squad in 2019. A 2019 national team member, Larson has appeared in three World Cups and two European Championships.
"The opportunity to represent the Czech Republic in the World Championship has been one of the greatest honors of my life," reflected Larson. "I have been lucky to watch these young women grow as their coach, and now, to be on the field with them as a teammate is more than I could have ever dreamed of. We have made our mark on the World Lacrosse stage and are showing everyone what Czech Lacrosse is capable of. We are beyond excited to be on the field playing against some of the best lacrosse players in the world tonight."
The Norwalk, Connecticut native leads the tournament in total assists (14) while ranking third amongst the Czech in total points (21).
Nee joined the Czech team as an assistant coach for goalkeepers and defenders following an All-American career at the University of Connecticut.
"This has been an absolutely incredible experience, getting to coach these young women at the highest level," noted Nee. "Watching how far they've come since the January training camp and seeing how they've adjusted in the tournament is absolutely wild. We are looking forward to facing one of the toughest teams in the country tonight and can't wait to show the world what the Czechs' are made of!"
Through five games, the Czech Republic's goalkeepers lead the tournament in save percentage (50.7).

July 1

Larson recorded four goals while dishing out four assists for a team-best eight points.
July 3
Czech Republic, 14 | Mexico, 6
Larson contributed three points off one goal and a pair of assists while causing a turnover. Goalkeepers Anna Ničová and Kateřina NájemnÍková combined for seven saves.
July 4
Czech Republic, 19 | Sweden, 5
Larson put on an offensive clinic, distributing five assists and scoring once for six points on the match. In net, NájemnÍková made five stops.
July 5
Czech Republic, 14 | Germany, 9
Scoring in every game thus far, Larson recorded one goal with two assists. Ničová made a whopping ten saves to secure the Czech Republic's place in the quarterfinals.
