Lacrosse Hosts No. 20/21 Princeton on Senior Day

The Lions will take on the Tigers at Commisso Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m.
NEW YORK - The Columbia lacrosse team resumes Ivy League play on Saturday with a matchup against No. 20/21 Princeton. First draw is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
SENIOR DAY
Following the conclusion of Saturday's game, the Lions will honor their five seniors in a Senior Day ceremony.
Columbia's five seniors are Riya Batra, Serena Hong, Ali Surace, Cordelia Flemming, and Cecelia Messner. Be sure to stick around after the game for the entire event to celebrate each of their incredible careers.
LAST TIME OUT
The Lions closed out non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon with a 20-9 loss to UMass at Garber Field.
Columbia battled early, matching UMass through much of the opening quarter. Goals from Maddie Brogan, Anna Becker and Michelle Zhai helped the Lions keep pace before Cecelia Messner added a late tally to cut the deficit to 6-4 after the first.
SCOUTING PRINCETON
The Tigers enter Saturday's contest with a 5-6 record, and fresh off a 10-9 loss to Penn in double overtime. They own a win over No. 18 Penn State, and five of their six losses are to ranked teams.
Last season, Princeton finished 16-4 overall with a 6-1 record in conference play. The Tigers would qualify for the NCAA Tournament, and eventually fell to No. 1 North Carolina in the third round. In last year's matchup with the Lions, Princeton won 17-6 in New Jersey.
Meg Morrisroe leads the team with 31 goals, while Jami MacDonald has a team-high 48 points and Haven Dora has an impressive 31 assists. Abigail Roberts has been a force on the defensive end, forcing 15 turnovers and collecting 24 ground balls and 33 draw controls. Goalkeeper Amelia Hughes has collected 131 saves on the season and is 5-5.

UMass created separation in the third quarter, outscoring Columbia 5-1 to extend its lead to 15-7 heading into the fourth, and never looked back.
Becker and Brogan led Columbia offensively with three goals apiece, while Zhai added two goals and an assist. Messner contributed a goal and two assists, and Emma Row added two assists.
