INITIATIVES
The Lions are celebrating alumnae weekend at this weekend's game. Columbia welcomes back all former volleyball players to be recognized at Levien during the game.
LAST TIME OUT
Columbia returned home last weekend for the Lions' first conference games at Levien. The weekend finished with an unfortunate 3-0 loss to Penn, despite an epic second set.
After a tough first set, Hailee Watts and Harper Justema both sparked runs with massive kills, leading to a tie game late in the second set. The Lions and Quakers went back-and-forth in an incredible showdown with both teams having multiple set points but unable to finish. It wasn't until consecutive kills from Penn's Adell Murray allowed the Quakers to walk away with a 34-32 victory. The Quakers bottled up that momentum and rode it into the third set to close things out quickly.
Amanda Holsen and Watts led the Lions in kills with 15 each. Holsen matched her career-high and surpassed her season-high with tonight's effort. First-year Clara Yu had seven digs and set a career-high with 35 assists.
SCOUTING CORNELL
Cornell enters the weekend with a 10-6 overall record. The Big Red are 4-3 so far in Ivy League play, with recent wins over Brown and Penn but most recently losing in four sets to Princeton.
Last season, Cornell finished 7-16 overall, with a 5-9 mark in the Ivy League. The Big Red won in Levien last season, but the Lions defeated Cornell in Ithaca.
In the 2024 Ivy League Preseason Poll, Cornell was picked to finish in fifth place.
The Big Red's Mackenzie Parsons is 18th in the nation with a .411 hitting percentage, and Cameron Carlo is 15th in the nation with 1.44 blocks per set.
