NEW YORK — The Columbia Cross Country team is set to compete at and will host the 2025 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships at Van Cortland Park. The women's 6k is scheduled at 11:00 a.m., and the men's 8k championship race will follow at 12:00 p.m.
At the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Championship, Phoebe Anderson won the women's individual title while Talha Syed took home a bronze medal with a third-place finish in the 8k thanks to a time of 22:57.5. The Columbia men finished in sixth place with a score of 113, while the Columbia women finished in eighth place with a score of 155.
Lions standout Rory Clare is looking to finish her senior campaign strong. Clare ran a personal best time of 20:47.3 in the 6k competition finishing 28th overall at the Princeton Fall Classic, and will look for her highest finish at Heps yet. 
Junior Leanna Johnston has been a consistent scorer for Columbia throughout the season, setting her best time of 20:59.4 in the 6k contest at the Princeton Fall Classic. Daniela Quintero who has also been named Ivy Athlete of the Week in the past will also be looking to make an impact. 
On the men's side, senior Edward Blaha has consistently been a top finisher for the Lions and led the pack at the Louisville Classic with a personal best time of 23:59.8. 
Other standout performers to look out for are Brett Bishop (24:25.1 PR), George Blaha (24:14.9 PR), and Henry Koike-Sieira (24:05.9 PR).

Following Ivy League Heps, the Lions will send a team to compete at the NCAA East Regionals, which will be hosted in Hopkinton, New Hampshire on Friday, November 14. The meet will begin at 11:00 a.m.
