Lions come out on top of a tough match to improve to 2-0 in Ivy League play

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 72nd-ranked Columbia women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Ivy League play with a 4-0 win over host Brown on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Columbia (11-6, 2-0 Ivy) extends its winning streak to three matches and has improved to 3-2 on the road.

The Lions took the doubles point with strong showings at No. 1 and No. 3 spot. Malak El Allami and Fatima Keita got the momentum going with a 6-1 win over Lindsey Hofflander/Addison Ahlstrom at the No. 1 spot. Emily Baek/Sophia Wang clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Hanna Shen/Gabby Soliman at the No. 3 spot.

Despite the 4-0 win, the match was much closer than the score indicated. Columbia battled hard to complete the sweep, capturing wins in the singles matches at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 spot.

El Allami got the first singles point for the Lions, defeating Gabby Soliman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
