Miller, Kail, and Fellows named to First Team
PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia baseball junior shortstop Sam Miller was named Ivy League Player of the Year to headline 10 All-Ivy League selections, the conference announced on Thursday. Joe Sheets is Columbia's Academic All-Ivy League selection.
Miller becomes the sixth Lion to earn Ivy League Player of the Year during head coach Brett Boretti's tenure and first since fellow shortstop Andy Blake picked up the honor in 2023. The McMurray, Pennsylvania, native hit a team-best .350 and leads the conference with 14 homers, 51 RBI and 45 runs scored in 41 starts.
Named to the Brooks Wallace Watch List for the nation's top short list in April, Miller is already second in Columbia history with 29 career homers, and his 14 dingers in 2025 put him third on the Lions' single-season list. This is his second consecutive year being named to the all-conference first team.
FIRST TEAM
Second baseman Jack Kail, shortstop Sam Miller, and outfielder Cole Fellows.
SECOND TEAM
Starting pitcher Thomas Santana, relief pitcher Alex Sotiropoulos, catcher Anthony Temesvary, and third baseman and utility/pitcher Griffin Palfrey.
HONORABLE MENTION
Utility player Tate Vogler and designated hitter Hunter Snyder.
Kail started all 41 games in the infield, batting .305 with 12 doubles, six homers and 41 RBI. He leads the Ivy League with five sacrifice flies and has been stout defensively, committing just three errors on the season.
Fellows also earned the Blair Bat, given to the student-athlete with the highest batting average in conference play, after hitting at a .419 clip in 21 Ivy League games. On the season, the left fielder hit .329 with 12 doubles, 34 RBI, and 34 runs scored.
Santana notched four of his five victories in Ivy League play to rank second in the conference in league games only. He led the Lions' pitching staff with 49 strikeouts in 49.2 innings.
Sotiropoulos appeared against every conference series and posted a 2.49 ERA in Ivy League play, good for fourth in the league. Overall, he went 4-3 with two saves and struck out 28 in 30.0 innings.
Temesvary jacked five homers and had 14 RBI to go with a .346 batting average in 10 Ivy League games after splitting time with Estabrook behind the plate. Temesvary was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week to close the regular season and finished his rookie season with a .306 average, six homers and 19 RBI in just 14 starts.
Palfrey was named All-Ivy League for the second consecutive season after hitting .265 with 14 doubles and 41 RBI, putting him in the top five in the conference in the latter two categories. A product of Vancouver, British Columbia, Palfrey broke Columbia's all-time RBI record and is tied for second on the Lions' career doubles list (46). Additionally, he was named to the John Olerud National Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List in April and has seen action in eight contests on the hill.
Vogler emerged as the Lions' everyday first baseman early in Ivy League play. He hit .278 with nine doubles, a homer, 13 RBI and 20 runs scored.
Snyder has hit .275 over 32 games, smacking 25 hits and driving in 16 runs. He has a .407 slugging percentage and has scored 17 runs.
Sheets has made 11 starts in 2025, recording 43 strikeouts over 52.2 innings pitched. The Wilmington, Delaware, native has been a team captain for the past two seasons and was named to the inaugural Tony Gwynn Community Service Award "Starting 9," the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association announced earlier this month.
