The Lions racked up 16 hits and received contributions up and down the lineup in the victory
The Lions improved to 9-20 on the season, while the Stags moved to 15-15.
All nine Columbia starters either scored or drove in a run. Kail finished 3-for-6 with two RBIs, extending his hitting streak to eight games and his on-base streak to 14. Snyder went 2-for-5 and belted his first home run of the season to cap the scoring.
Kail, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week, set the tone early with a leadoff double. He moved to third on a wild pitch and came home on a sacrifice fly to give Columbia a 1-0 lead. Fairfield answered in the bottom of the inning, stringing together three straight hits to take a 2-1 advantage.
Columbia evened the score in the third. Kail led off with another hit and moved into scoring position after an Anthony Temesvary single. Cole Fellows followed with an RBI single to center to tie the game at 2-2.
The Lions took control in the fourth. With the bases loaded, Kail brought in a run on a fielder's choice before Temesvary added an RBI single to put Columbia in front for good. Columbia extended the lead in the sixth, as Kail's third hit of the day drove in Snyder and Temesvary lifted a sacrifice fly to make it 6-2.
Fairfield trimmed the deficit in the bottom half. After two walks, Zach Stephens delivered an RBI single to make it 6-3. Catcher Owen Estabrook halted the rally by picking off a runner at third to end the inning.
Columbia broke the game open in the seventh, scoring four runs. Snyder delivered a two-run single, a balk brought home another run, and Jack McWilliams added an RBI single to push the lead to 10-3.
The Stags responded in the bottom of the inning. Bucciero led off with a solo home run, and with two outs, Carter Grande ripped a two-run double to cut the margin to 10-6.
The Lions put the game away in the eighth. Estabrook and Ben Fishel drew walks ahead of Snyder, who launched a three-run homer to seal the 13-6 victory.
Columbia used six pitchers on the day. First-year Jack Korthas (1-2) earned his first career win, tossing two innings of shutout ball while allowing one baserunner and striking out two.
