Women’s Basketball Set to Host No. 24 Princeton Friday, Penn Saturday

Friday night’s game to be nationally televised on ESPNU; Saturday is the team's annual Play4Kay Game
NEW YORK – The Columbia women's basketball team (15-6, 6-2 Ivy) plays its two biggest home games of the season this weekend, hosting No. 24/24 Princeton (19-2, 7-1 Ivy) on Friday night at 6 p.m., followed by Penn (13-8, 3-5 Ivy) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Friday night's game against Princeton will be televised nationally on ESPNU. Joey Lindstrom and Brooke Weisbrod will have the call. Saturday's game against Penn will be streamed on ESPN+, with Lance Medow on play-by-play and Maren Walseth as the analyst.

PLAY4KAY
• Saturday will serve as Columbia's annual Play4Kay Game, a women's basketball initiative to raise awareness and funds for women's cancer research on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond. Since the 2007-08 season, the Lions have participated in the Play4Kay game, helping raise awareness in the fight against women's cancer. The Lions will be wearing special Play4Kay warm-ups. The first 300 fans will receive a free pink chip clip.

OPENING TIPS
• The Lions are coming off an 80-55 win at Cornell last Saturday. In that game, Riley Weiss scored 38 points (13-20 FG, 9-12 3FG, 3-5 FT). She tied the Columbia record for 3-pointers made in a game for the second time this season. Her 38 points were two shy of the Columbia single-game record, which she owns, scoring 40 back on January 24 against Dartmouth.
• Two weeks ago, Columbia defeated then-No. 19 Princeton, 73-67, on the road. The win was Columbia's second in program history over an AP Top 25 opponent, the other also coming against Princeton on Feb. 24, 2024, at Levien Gym. The next night, the Lions were defeated by Penn, 64-55, in Philadelphia. The loss snapped Columbia's 16-game road winning streak, which was the longest active streak in the NCAA.
• Columbia is 2-15 all-time against AP Top 25 opponents. Friday will mark the fourth time that Princeton has come to Levien Gym ranked in the AP Poll.
• Weiss leads the Ivy League and ranks top 25 in the NCAA in scoring (19.4). She also leads the league in total points (408), field goals made (145), 3-pointers made (59) and 3-pointers made per game (2.81).
• Perri Page is one of three players in the NCAA to average at least 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and shoot 50% or better from the field. The other two players are UConn's reigning All-American Sarah Strong and Abilene Christian's Meredith Mayes. Nationally, Page ranks top 50 in FG% (53.1%).
• Columbia leads the Ivy League in scoring margin (+11.0), assists per game (17.0) and steals per game (12.4). The Lions rank No. 15 in the NCAA in steals and top 40 in assists.
WEISS IS NICE
• Riley Weiss is one of two players in the NCAA to score 38+ points in multiple games this season. The other is Iowa State's Audi Crooks.
• Weiss is the first player in the NCAA since Caitlin Clark (Iowa) and Madison Conner (TCU) to have multiple games with 9+ made threes in a single season. Clark and Conner did it during the 2023-24 season.
• In Saturday's 38-point performance at Cornell, Weiss tied the Columbia record with nine made threes. It is the second time she has made 9+ threes in a game this season. The other came in her record-breaking 40-point performance against Dartmouth.
• Weiss ranks Top 25 in the NCAA and leads the Ivy League in scoring average (19.4 ppg). She also leads the league in total points (408), field goals made (145), 3-pointers made (59) and 3-pointers made per game (2.81).
