
No. 66 Women’s Tennis Outlasts Bears

Lions come back to win 4-3 to remain perfect at home in 2025-26
NEW YORK – The 66th-ranked Columbia women's tennis team remained undefeated on its home courts after securing a thrilling 4-3 win over Brown on Saturday afternoon at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
With the win, Columbia improves to 12-3 in dual matches this year, and 2-0 in Ivy League play. The Lions also improved to 9-0 at home.
Saturday's match featured several epic showdowns, which began in doubles play where Brown (13-6, 0-2 Ivy) secured the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3. It was the first doubles point the Lions have not won this season.
Michelle Li and Amber Yin won their doubles match, defeating Anne Moody and Chloe Qin, 6-1 on court No. 2.
Anne Yang and Ali Maguy tied the doubles point up 1-1 with a 6-4 win over Gayathri Krishnan and Sabrina Lin. Brown clinched the doubles point on court three when Hannah Shen and Abigail Lee defeated Sophia Wang and Emily Baek 7-5.
The Bears made it 2-0 when Lee defeated Wang 6-0, 6-2 on court No. 2 to begin singles play.
Columbia evened things up with straight-set wins on court No. 6 and No. 4. Amber Yin got the momentum back in the Lions' favor with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Francesca Saroli. On court four, Li tied the match up with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Anne Yang.
Krishnan gave Columbia its first lead, outlasting Shen, 6-1, 6(6)-7, 7-5 on court one. Shen led late in the third set, but Krishnan rallied back to give the Lions the lead. Krishnan has now won four in a row and nine of her last 10 matches.
On court five, Sari Woo tied the match at 3-3 with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win over Margaret Hui. The match came down to court No. 2, where Emily Baek was in a battle with Ali Maguy. Baek took the opening set, winning 7-6(5), but lost in the tiebreaker in the second set. In the third set, she took the third set, winning the match 7-6(5), 6(4)-7, 6-3.
Columbia returns to action tomorrow when they host Yale. Sunday's dual against the Bulldogs is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first serve.
