PRINCETON, N.J. - Sekou Cox, Tom Heinbockel, Blake Lindberg and John Mulhern were each named second team All-Ivy, as selected by the league's head coaches.
Cox (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was a four-year starter in the Lions' backfield, starting 59 of the 64 games he played in a Columbia uniform. A second-team All-Ivy selection as a sophomore, he was a critical force on the backline and a creative presence moving up to attack, as he saw time at forward during some matches this season.
A sophomore, Heinbockel (Seaford, N.Y.) earns his first All-Ivy selection. Heinbockel was also selected to the Stony Brook All-Tournament team earlier this season. Having started 33 of 34 matches in his first two years, Heinbockel has established himself as an outstanding defensive midfielder in the Ivy League.
In his final season, Lindberg (New Orleans, La.) earns his fourth consecutive All-Ivy selection. A mainstay in the Columbia backfield since the 2002 season, the senior co-captain finishes his career with two points and two assists, but his main contribution was his consistent defensive presence. Lindberg was selected to the Stony Brook All-Tournament team in September and closes out his career at Columbia as one of the top defenders in the Lions' history.
Mulhern (Smithtown, N.Y.) led Columbia with five goals this season and was the Lions' most dangerous offensive threat throughout the year. In 2004, he earned All-Ivy honorable mention after totaling seven points (two goals, three assists). His breakout season saw him earn Offensive MVP honors at the Mayor's Cup in Oneonta, highlighted by a two-goal performance against Oneonta that lifted Columbia to a 2-1 win.
