
Sophie Reiser Named to ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

NEW YORK -- For the second consecutive year, senior women's soccer player Sophie Reiser has been named to the ESPN The Magazine All-District I first team, it was announced recently by the College Sports Information Directors of America. With the first-team nod, Reiser becomes eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on November 17.
The reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, Reiser has established herself as one of the top women's soccer players in Columbia history. The Seattle, Wash., native sits atop the all-time career assists list at the school, and ranks second in points and third in goals scored. Reiser has earned Ivy League Player of the Week awards four times in her career, including once this season, and was a first team All-Ivy League selection as a sophomore and junior.
Also a standout student, Reiser maintains a 3.67 GPA in political science, and earned Scholar All-America honors last year from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
This year, Reiser is tied for the team lead with sophomore Ashlin Yahr for the team lead in points at 18 (7G, 4A). Along with fellow seniors Christina Eckhardt, Meggie Ford and Ashley Mistele, Reiser's senior class has won the most Ivy League matches of any class in Columbia history, and maintains helped the Lions to the second-best overall winning percentage in a four-year span.
Columbia will close out its 2009 season on Saturday, Nov. 7 against Harvard at Columbia Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
