PRINCETON, N.J. – The Columbia women's volleyball team (3-10, 1-3 Ivy) was unable to rally back on Friday night as it fell three-straight sets to the Princeton Tigers.
After dropping set one, 25-18, the Lions came out attacking strong in the early goings of set two as they took an 11-4 lead to force a Princeton timeout. The Tigers were able to take the next two points coming out of the timeout but the Lions answered immediately back to extend their lead to 15-8.
Princeton's offense wouldn't sit back long enough, however, as they battled back to tie things up at 20-20 before taking the set, 25-23, to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Unfortunately the Lions were unable to bounce back as Princeton sealed the 3-0 victory with a 25-19 win in the third set.
Leading the Lions was Bailey Springer who was able to post up 12 kills and four digs while Katarina Jovicic added six kills and seven blocks on the night. Alex Reale finished one dig shy of a double-double, posting up 17 assists and nine digs for the Lions.
The Lions will return to action tomorrow afternoon as they head to Philadelphia to take on Penn at 5 p.m. live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
