KINGSTON, R.I. – After being held in check the first two times around the order, the Columbia baseball team erupted for seven runs in the final two innings to come away with an 8-0 win over Brown on Monday afternoon.
On the hill, Kevin Roy went the distance to improve to 2-2 on the year. Roy worked around five walks, but allowed just three hits to go with five strikeouts.
Joey Falcone drove in half of the Lions' (14-10, 6-1) runs with a 2-for-4 performance from the plate.
Nick Maguire provided a big solo shot to put the Lions in front, 1-0, in the third inning, hist fourth of the year, to tie him for the team lead in homers. But that would be Columbia's only hit until the sixth-inning barrage.
With one out, Will Savage singled and moved into scoring position after a Jordan Serena walk. Robb Paller pulled a base hit to right to extend the margin to 2-0. Falcone knocked in two more with a single and David Vandercook joined in on the hit parade with a single, extending the advantage to 5-0.
The Lions continued to roll in the seventh, loading the bases for Paller who earned his second RBI of the game by drawing a base on balls. Falcone put the exclamation point on with a two-run single.
