NEW YORK - With the 2015 season just days away, the Columbia soccer programs have announced its inaugural Media Day scheduled for Thursday, August 27 at 11:30 a.m. Broadcasted live on Periscope, women's soccer head coach Tracey Bartholomew and men's soccer head coach Kevin Anderson will both field questions about their teams and the upcoming season, along with several interviews from current players.
The Columbia women's soccer team will kick-off the year with a trip to Hofstra on Friday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m., followed by another local opponent in Wagner on Sunday, Aug. 30 at noon in Staten Island. In addition to the season opening weekend, the Lions will continue with 13 of its 16 games in the tri-state area. Following a road match at ACC opponent Boston College on Friday Sep. 4 at 2 p.m., the Lions will welcome Manhattan for its home opener on a sacred day for New York City on Friday, Sep. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Columbia will take on its 16-game schedule with a group of talented newcomers, combined with an experienced core including a pair of returning All-Ivy League defenders.
The men's season will get under way on Friday, Sep. 4, when UMass visits for a 5 p.m. contest at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium. The Lions will hit the road for its next four games, two of which will come against returning NCAA Tournament selections Providence and Fordham. The nine-game non-conference slate will continue on Sep. 26 when New Hampshire comes to New York, followed by the first of seven Ivy League contests against Brown on Oct. 3. Altogether, the men return four of their five All-Ivy League honorees from a season ago.
