Columbia welcomes Princeton to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium Sunday at 3 p.m. on ESPNU.
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's soccer team plays host to Princeton Sunday at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium with first kick at 3 p.m. ET.
The match will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU with Drew Fellios and Morgan Conklin on the call. Fans can also watch the game via ESPN3.
With each team coming off its first loss in Ivy League play, both will be highly motivated and energized to earn three points.
The Lions enter Sunday's match with a 6-5-1 overall record, including a 2-1-0 mark in Ivy League play. After opening league competition with back-to-back cardiac wins, Columbia dropped its first Ivy game of the season last Friday in a 1-0 decision at Penn.
Columbia used a quick break from conference play on Monday to get back in the win column, earning a 3-0 victory over Lafayette. Senior Emma Anderson, junior Maddie Temares and first year Mallaika Tomar recorded goals in the win.
The Lions are sharing the ball well this season, with five different players having tallied multiple goals and nine different players having scored. Columbia leads the league in assists per game (1.92) and total points (59).
Princeton owns a 7-3-2 overall record, with a 1-1-1 mark in league games. The Tigers are coming off a 3-2 loss to Brown last Saturday. After taking an early 2-0 lead, they couldn't fend off a second-half rally from Brown who scored the game-winner in the 79th minute.
More than half of Princeton's scoring has come from junior Mimi Asom in 2018, leading the Tigers with 10 goals.
In the all-time series between the two, Princeton holds a 21-8-4 lead, but Columbia has taken the last two by way of 2-0 shutout victories. A season ago, the Lions delivered Princeton's only league loss of 2017 as the Tigers won the conference title and advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Women's College Cup.
The first 100 fans to arrive at the match will receive a 20 oz. travel mug. All Columbia students in attendance will also receive 100 Loyal Lion Student Rewards Points, and one student will have the chance to win a $25 giftcard to the book store.
The Lion Store will be open near the entrance of the stadium for Sunday's match, with various Columbia gear on sale for fans.
Columbia will close its three-game home stretch next weekend, bringing in Dartmouth on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 6 p.m.
