The Lions sit atop the Ivy League standings with six points
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's soccer team continues its Ivy League slate Friday, traveling to Philadelphia to square off against Penn at 4 p.m. ET.
The match will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Philadelphia+ and can also be streamed live on ESPN+. The game will air via tape delay on SNY on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Columbia owns a 5-4-1 overall record this season, boasting a 2-0 mark in Ivy League competition with victories over Cornell and Brown. Both have come in dramatic fashion, downing Cornell in double-overtime and scoring the go-ahead goal vs. Brown in the 90th minute. The Lions have now begun conference play with a 2-0 record in each of the last three seasons.
Four different Lions have scored in Ivy League play thus far, including two who registered their first goals of the season.
The Lions currently sit atop the league standing with six points as the only Ivy program to begin its conference schedule with two wins.
Penn is off to its best start in program history at 7-1-1, 1-0-1 Ivy. The Quakers are coming off their first league win of the season after a 2-0 win at Cornell on Saturday. Penn opened up conference play with a scoreless draw against Harvard. Their lone loss of the season came on Aug. 31, falling 0-1 to NC State.
In a series that dates back to 1989, the Quakers have a slight edge as Columbia trails 10-13-5. The Lions have taken the last two, both of which have been 1-0 victories in extra minutes.
Wrapping up the non-conference slate, Columbia will have a quick turnaround, returning home Monday, Oct. 8, to host Lafayette at 7 p.m.
