Columbia welcomes Lafayette to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium Monday evening at 7 p.m. ET
NEW YORK — The Columbia women's soccer team will break from Ivy League competition Monday evening to play host to its final non-conference match of the season, welcoming Lafayette to Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. ET.
As always, the match can be streamed live via ESPN+ while live stats can be found at GoColumbiaLions.com.
The Lions are coming off a 1-0 loss at Penn on Friday night, as Penn's goal in the 51st minute proved to be the difference in the contest. Columbia owns a 5-5-1 record overall in 2018, including a 2-1 mark in Ivy League play. With six points in the Ivy League standings, the Lions still rank fourth among league competitors, just one point behind leaders Harvard, Penn and Dartmouth.
Lafayette enters Monday's match with a 4-8 overall record, as well as a 1-4 mark in Patriot League contests. After starting the season 3-0, the Leopards have dropped four straight matches and eight of the last nine. Lafayette has also been held scoreless since its 2-0 victory at Bucknell on Sept. 15.
In a series that dates back to 1991, the Lions trail slightly at 2-3-1, while two of the six contests have gone into extra minutes. The two programs have not met since, Oct. 11, 2016, in a match that ended in a scoreless draw.
Looking to get back in the win column, the Lions match vs. Lafayette kicks off the first of a three-game home stretch.
Columbia continues Ivy League action on Sunday, Oct. 14, bringing in Princeton at 3 p.m. The match will be nationally televised on ESPNU.
