Lions Face Off Against No. 7 Princeton Saturday

NEWS/NOTES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• Despite strong efforts last weekend, the Lions were edged in both of their games to Cornell and Albany.
• Columbia lost a hard-fought match to Cornell, where it went into a shootout for the first time this year. Cornell was able to get one shot by the keeper to win it, 1-0.
• Columbia's lone goal on the weekend came from Kelsey Farkas, who now has five goals on the season, tying her with Allison Smith and Jennifer Trieschman for first on the team and third in the Ivy League.
• Farkas is also tied for third in the Ivy with 13 points on the season.
• Brooke Gasser is third in the Ancient Eight with a team-high six assists.
PRINCETON'S STATUS
• The Tigers are entering the match ranked seventh in the nation. Their four losses have all come to ranked teams (No. 1 North Carolina, No. 4 UConn, No. 4 Maryland and No. 21 Rutgers), each by only one score.
• They are coming off an upset over No. 2 Duke, where they beat the Blue Devils, 5-4, in overtime.
• Every game outside the Ivy League that they have played have been against ranked opponents.
• The Tigers have the top two goal scorers in the Ivy League in Hannah Davey and Clara Roth, each with seven on the year.
• Roth also leads the Ivy in points with 21.
• Davey's game winning goal against Duke, capping off a three goal comeback, gave her the Ivy League Player of the Week for her play against Yale and the Blue Devils.
• In net, Grace Baylis has started all 11 games with a 2.16 GAA and .579 save percentage.
INSIDE THE SERIES - PRINCETON
The Lions field a 1-21 record all-time against Princeton. Their lone win came back in 2014, where they took the game 3-2. The Tigers have shut out Columbia in their last three meetings.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Over half of Columbia's first 10 opponents have been ranked at some point this season in the NFHCA Top-25 Poll. The Lions took are 2-4 in those contests, their losses coming to No. 8 Iowa, 3-1, on Sept. 8, to No. 23 Fairfield, 1-0, on Sept. 20, to current No. 24 Cornell 1-0 in shootouts and to No. 21 Albany 3-1. Their wins were against No. 22 Boston U and No. 24 Maine. Looking ahead, Columbia will have three more cracks at teams currently in the top-25 when they face Princeton (Oct. 12), Monmouth (Oct. 20) and Harvard (Nov. 18).
