NEWS/NOTES
COLUMBIA'S STATUS
• The Lions were scheduled to play two games this past weekend, but a rainout at New Hampshire saw them play just one against Dartmouth.
• In its game at Dartmouth, Columbia took an early 1-0 lead off a Jennifer Trieschman goal. The Big Green would respond with three unanswered goals, taking a two goal lead into the 55th minute. Ellie Decker scored two goals in just over four minutes for the Lions, tying the game with two seconds left in regulation. Decker would complete her hat-trick in the first minute of overtime to give the Lions the comeback win.
• After her hat trick, Decker was named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. Decker became the first Lion to post three goals in a game since Trieschman did so in 2017.• Brooke Gasser ranks No. 21 in the country, averaging 0.57 assists per game.
YALE'S STATUS
• The Bulldogs come into the weekend at 1-4 in the Ivy League with their only win coming against Dartmouth. However, all of their conference losses have been close matches, with their biggest margin of defeat being two against Penn.
• The Bulldogs have won two of their last three, with victories against Dartmouth and Quinnipiac.
• When Yale has won, its victories usually come in blowouts. Three of its four wins on the year were shutouts, with a couple of 6-0 wins against Dartmouth and Wagner, and a 4-0 win vs. Sacred Heart.
• In net, Sydney Terroso has started all 14 games with a 2.28 GAA and .742 save percentage. She is second in the Ivy with 89 saves on the year and 6.36 saves per game.
INSIDE THE SERIES - YALE
The Lions field an 6-17 record all-time against Yale. The last time they met, the Bulldogs won 2-1 in a shootout. The two teams have had five games go into overtime since 2008.
WORKING OVERTIME
Columbia is a perfect 3-0 in games decided in overtime this season with wins over Boston University, Penn and Dartmouth. However, the Lions are 0-2 in shootouts, falling to Cornell and Monmouth.
TAKING ON THE BEST
Over half of Columbia's first 13 opponents have been ranked at some point this season in the NFHCA Top-25 Poll. The Lions are 2-6 in those contests, their losses coming to No. 8 Iowa, 3-1, No. 23 Fairfield, 1-0, No. 24 Cornell 1-0 in shootouts, No. 21 Albany 3-1, No. 7 Princeton 8-1, and most recently 2-1 to No. 23 Monmouth 2-1 in a shootout. Their wins were against No. 22 Boston University and No. 24 Maine. Looking ahead, Columbia has one more crack at a team currently in the top-25 when they face Harvard (Nov. 8).
