Princeton sophomore Alexis Hiltunen broke through a 0-0 tie in the 101st minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 victory over the visiting Lions.
"This was an intense, high leve, lvy game. We give Princeton a lot of credit," said head coach Tracey Bartholomew following the conclusion of play. "Our team left everything on the field. We came to win and created chances, but both goalkeepers had amazing games. It's tough to lose it at the end, but we tried our hardest. You want your players to be rewarded in a moment like that, for all their hard work, so it is tough, but my hope is that this will just encourage them even further."
Princeton paced the contest with 18 shots and four corners to Columbia's 13 shots, 10 of which were on goal, and three corners.
Sophomore forward Nata Ramirez led the Lions in shots (3) while teammates Sophia Cavaliere and Mallaika Tomar recorded two each, both of which were on goal.
