The Lions are looking to build on a 7-5-3 overall mark during the 2022 season. Columbia went 3-3-1 in Ivy League action last season with wins over Cornell, Penn and Dartmouth. Three All-Ivy honorees from last season are back and are looking to have a breakout season on the pitch. 2022 All-Ivy First Team honoree Courtney Ruedt, Second Team honoree Ania Prussak and honorable mention honoree Maia Tabion will look to again help lead the Columbia squad.
Columbia welcomed a talented incoming class, including six rookies and a senior walk-on. Forward Maia Beltran, defender Isabel Liu, forward Sophia Ambrose, defender Trinity Parameswaran, defender Samantha Weiss, goalkeeper Katrina Chorzepa and walk-on defender Ruby Hogue will join the squad to start the 2023 season.
Head Coach Tracey Bartholomew will enter her 10th season leading the Lions in 2023. Following the 2022 season, Bartholomew became the first coach in program history to record six-straight winning seasons. The 2022 squad was undefeated at home, posting a 4-0-3 mark in games played in New York City. Associate Head Coach Amphone Keovongmanysar also enters his 10th season with the program as he has been with Bartholomew since she took over the program. Assistant Coach Jack Abelson enters his second season on the Columbia staff in 2023.
The Lions will open the season against Hofstra for a 2 p.m. kickoff Friday. Hofstra enters the matchup with a 1-1 record after earning a 1-0 victory at Rutgers on Sunday. The Pride opened the season with a 1-2 loss at Albany. Columbia is looking to earn back-to-back wins against Hofstra as the Lions took a 2-1 win over the Pride last season.
Columbia will conclude its home opening weekend with a 6 p.m. match against Loyola Maryland on Sunday. The Greyhounds are 1-1 so far this season with a win over Temple and a loss to Dayton. Loyola Maryland will host Middle Tennessee before making the trip to Manhattan for Sunday's game. Sunday's match will be the second meeting between the teams as Columbia won last year's match, 3-2.
